The personal information that you provide during your registration to this platform will be verified with encrypted information in a secure database.
Consent and withdrawal of consent
By registering on this platform, you are providing consent that limited information about your activity on the platform be made available to education managers in your domain. You have the right to withdraw this consent by requesting that the DBE de-activate your account from the platform. This request can be directed to nicpd@dbe.gov.za.
Limitations of Information Sharing
No personal (e.g. contact details) or sensitive information (e.g. gender) will be shared. Your name, surname and school, and a record of your activity in learning pathways will be visible to the Senior Management Team in your school and officials in the district, province or DBE and will only be provided in secure, password-controlled reports. The purpose for making this information available is for monitoring the scope of teacher development activity in your region and in the country generally.
The results of your self-assessment and quizzes will not be made known to anyone but yourself.
The Type 1 Continuing Professional Teacher Development (CPTD) points that you earn will be reported to the SACE CPTD Management system with the details of the activities that earned these points.
Your email address and/or cell phone number will be used to send you an OTP and verify you as a user on this platform. Once you are verified, your email address may be used to notify you of activities that you scheduled. You will not receive unsolicited email messages or phone messages from any other person or entity because of your participation on this platform.
The contents of your conversations will be visible only to the participants in a conversation, but for purposes of your safety, conversations are saved for auditing purposes. An audit will only be requested by a system administrator under extreme circumstances of inappropriate behaviour.
Accuracy of Information
You will have access to all your information and a record of your current and past activities. If you consider information to be incorrect then you should contact nicpd@dbe.gov.za. Note that you can edit your profile information yourself.
Intellectual Property
The content of the microlearning management system is published under the conditions of Creative Commons Non-Commercial license CC-By-NC-SA. Your contributions to discussions and collaborative documents will be regarded as the intellectual property of the Department of Basic Education and can be used for any non-profit purposes on condition that the users give appropriate credit and license the content under CC-by-NC-SA.
Appropriate Use
By accepting these terms and conditions you undertake not to use this platform to knowingly: (i) send spam or otherwise duplicative or unsolicited messages in violation of applicable laws; (ii) send, use or store infringing, obscene, threatening, libelous, or otherwise unlawful or tortuous material, including material harmful to children or in violation of third party rights; (iii) send, use or store material containing software viruses, worms, Trojan horses or other harmful computer code, files, scripts, agents or programs; (iv) interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the platform or the data contained therein; (v) commit any act that is detrimental to the good name and standing of the Department of Basic Education (DBE); or (vi) attempt to gain unauthorized access to the platform, DBE or its related systems or networks. You will indemnify and hold DBE, its licensors and its organizations, subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, directors and employees harmless from and against any and all third-party claims, costs, damages, losses, liabilities and expenses (including attorneys' reasonable fees and costs) to the extent arising out of or in connection with a claim resulting from breach of the appropriate use described herein.
You are responsible for all activity that occurs via your account. Please notify platform support immediately if you become aware of any unauthorized use of your account. You may not (a) share your account information (except with an authorized account administrator) or (b) use another person’s account. Your account administrator may use your account information to manage your use and access to the platform.
